Conference Sessions

A Year of Health Care Philanthropy in

In this session, we’ll try to make sense of all that has occurred in the last year, especially in leading health care philanthropy programs through a worldwide pandemic. Not just observations and outcomes, but lessons learned and future considerations. The impact of COVID-19 on the philanthropy landscape and our institutions; a re-thinking of the case for support for health care; and how we as professionals managed through an extraordinary year. Considerable interactive discussion in this first session.

Virtual Work, Virtual Moves Management, Making Sense of Performance, Data and Benchmarking in a New Era

Our philanthropy programs were turned upside down in a matter of days; years of “traditional” activities moved to new platforms. Making sense of the changes to our work and data; how we look to measure success and develop best practice in the “next normal;” impact on individual and team performance expectations.

The Future of Health Care Philanthropy – A “Next Normal?”

Philanthropy is indeed entering a new era! While we will focus on the “next normal” we’ll also spend time on the fundamentals for successful health care philanthropy:  being both donor-centric and ally-centric; institutional alignment; a robust grateful patient program; digital philanthropy and incorporating the power of electronic platforms; opportunities for deferred giving and wealth transfer; Donor Advised Funds; and more.

Our Role(s) as Professionals

Fundraising activities are not necessarily complicated; yet leading a comprehensive high-performing philanthropy program in a complex health care institution is a challenge. Bill will share his perspectives on the knowledge, skills and competency to excel as professionals and leaders; the role of coaching, counseling and mentoring staff and institutional allies; and opportunities for career advancement.
