With over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, Josué Hernandez currently serves as Director of Development at Memorial Medical Center Foundation, the philanthropic arm of MemorialCare's Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's & Women's Hospital. His recent accomplishments highlight his dedication to impactful fundraising, including spearheading a successful employee giving program at Huntington Hospital, where he exceeded the ambitious goal of 20% participation—nearly triple the usual average. Josué also launched a year-end matching challenge grant that raised over $600,000 for Huntington's Heart and Vascular Center, surpassing all previous records.
At his current organization, Josué led the development and launch of the hospital's first branded grateful patient program in recent history, demonstrating his innovative and forward-thinking approach to philanthropy. In his commitment to advancing philanthropy and honing his fundraising expertise, Josué has pursued certificate programs in fundraising and nonprofit leadership. And he continues to invest in his professional growth, having earned his CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credential in 2021, following a Master of Arts in Leadership in 2015. He is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
In 2022, Josué was honored as one of AHP’s (Association for Healthcare Philanthropy) 40 Under 40. This recognition program is designed to recognize the industry's brightest young leaders who have demonstrated impressive career achievements, deep community involvement, and exceptional leadership in healthcare philanthropy. He was also named a Blackbaud Diversity Scholar by AFP (the Association of Fundraising Professionals), a program focused on promoting diversity and inclusion within the fundraising profession. As part of this recognition, Josué attended AFP ICON in 2022, the world’s largest conference for fundraising professionals.
Committed to advancing the philanthropic sector, Josué is actively involved with several professional organizations, including SCAHD (Southern California Association for Healthcare Development) and AHP. He currently chairs the marketing and communications committee for SCAHD, and is one of only 41 CFRE Ambassadors globally, helping guide aspiring fundraisers toward their career goals through presentations and mentoring. His passion for philanthropy, coupled with his commitment to supporting others in the field, makes him a trusted leader in the nonprofit community.
With over two decades of expertise in nonprofit management and fundraising, Yuri Casco is a dedicated and strategic leader in healthcare philanthropy. As the Director of Donor Engagement and Special Events at USC Arcadia Hospital Foundation, she oversees key initiatives to enhance donor relationships and coordinate impactful fundraising events that align with the organization’s mission. A Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2015, attributes much of her success to her mentors and is passionate about guiding future CFREs on their own journeys.
Yuri is deeply committed to advancing diversity in the fundraising profession. She is expected to graduate with an MPH (Master in Public Health) from the Los Angeles Pacific University in 2025. Additionally, she has been a proud board member of Somos El Poder since 2020, an organization dedicated to elevating Latinx professionals through resources and development. In 2019, Yuri made history as the first Latina President of the AFP Greater Los Angeles Chapter (AFP-GLAC) and remains an active member. Lastly, she is involved with the Southern California Association for Healthcare Development (SCAHD) and is an alumna of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy's (AHP) Health System Philanthropy Residency Program.
In recognition of her contributions, Yuri received the AHP's prestigious 40 Under 40 Award in 2022, celebrating her exceptional career, community involvement, and leadership in healthcare philanthropy. Driven by a passion to expand access to health care through philanthropy, Yuri continues to build lasting relationships and strengthen communities, one gift at a time.
